"To say that Pumpkinman wins best post-race food is the understatement of a lifetime."

Racing is fun, and winning is always my favorite result, but something about racing at Pumpkinman transcends the usual swim-bike-run contest. You’ll never mistake the environment for the intense and over the top Ironman races, but rather notice something very different about the way people carry themselves here. Even the fastest, most competitive athletes, are just having a great, fun time. Everybody is happy. Laughter is in the air. Sure, there’s a clock to beat, but that’s just one small detail. To me, Pumpkinman is everything great about grassroots triathlon, and at the end of the day, just a fantastic reminder that triathlon is supposed to be fun, a fact that is far too easy to forget at other races. I promise that if you put Pumpkinman on your race calendar next season, it will be the highlight of your season.

Tim Russell, Pro Triathlete

Course Information

The Pumpkinman Sprint and Olympic Triathlon will take place at Spring Hill, a beautiful and scenic location illustrating the best of what the Seacoast has to offer. Spring Hill is located at 117 Pond Road, South Berwick, ME and directions can be found here.

The OLYMPIC COURSE consists of a second loop of the beautiful, scenic back roads of South Berwick!

Combined, the race will host 650 multi-sport athletes and up to 45 relay teams from all over Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and beyond and will cater to both new and veteran athletes.

The race begins with a swim in Knights Pond, followed by a beautiful rolling bike course along the well maintained Eastern Trail (paved surface). The event finishes with a run that starts out with a welcomed downhill start, long flat section along the Eastern Trail with a finish to remember!

This destination race showcases both the beauty of the venue as well as the South Berwick portion of the Eastern Trail.

Please note that the roads are NOT closed to traffic, but we will have volunteers all along the course to point you in the right direction.

Average water temperature in September is 65 degrees and wetsuits will be allowed.

This destination race showcases both the beauty of the venue as well as the South Berwick portion of the Eastern Trail.

POWDER HOUSE HILL CLIMB CHALLENGE

Unlike other triathlons, Pumpkinman offers a unique hill climb from the water exit to the bike transition. Approximately 250 meters from the waters edge, athletes will summit a replica of Powderhouse Hill; a locally owned ski hill that is run by the residents of South Berwick. Powderhouse Hill is one of the oldest operating ski areas in the entire country. In racing up the hill, athletes will have an additional split time for “summiting” the Hill Climb Challenge. Both male and female winners will receive an award and an amazing gift from our sponsors!
